On the evening of March 1, 2024, at approximately 8:50 PM, San Diego Police responded to reports of a shooting in the 4500 block of Alvarado Canyon Road, located in the Grantville neighborhood. Upon arrival, officers discovered two men with gunshot wounds in the stairwell of an apartment complex. The victims were identified as 31-year-old Joseph Taylor, a San Diego resident who did not reside at the complex, and 24-year-old Lavion Estridge, believed to be a security guard employed there.
