On December 31, 2023, at approximately 8:00 p.m., 35-year-old Carlos Octaviano Bazante was fatally shot while driving near the intersection of East 14th and B Streets in Madera, California. Responding to reports of a car crash and gunfire, Madera police officers arrived to find Bazante's vehicle had collided, and he had sustained multiple gunshot wounds. Despite prompt medical attention, Bazante was pronounced dead at the scene.
