On December 2, 2023, at approximately 4:00 a.m., Fresno police responded to a ShotSpotter alert in the 4300 block of East Olive Avenue. Upon arrival, officers discovered four men suffering from gunshot wounds at an apartment complex where a small gathering had been taking place. All four individuals were transported to a local hospital. Two of the victims, identified as 41-year-old Tim May and 30-year-old Antonio Arreola, succumbed to their injuries.
The other two men were listed in critical but stable condition and were expected to recover.
Investigators determined that a disturbance had occurred during the gathering, leading to the gunfire. On December 5, 2023, authorities arrested 33-year-old Timmy Sisquenoy in connection with the shooting. He was apprehended near Fresno and Van Ness avenues and was subsequently booked into the Fresno County Jail.
The tragic incident contributed to a concerning rise in violence within the city. By early December 2023, Fresno had recorded 34 homicides, a notable increase compared to the same period the previous year. Law enforcement officials urged community members to provide any information that could assist in ongoing investigations to help curb the surge in violent crimes.
