On October 16, 2023, 33-year-old Jose Ruedas was fatally shot near Brookside and Brookfield Avenues in Clovis, California, just south of the rodeo grounds. Emergency responders transported Ruedas to a local hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries.
Following an intensive investigation, Clovis Police Detectives identified two suspects: 26-year-old Andres Ramirez and 22-year-old Adriana Velasco, both residents of Fresno.
Ramirez was suspected of being the gunman, while Velasco was considered an accessory after the fact.
On November 28, 2023, acting on community tips, detectives located Ramirez and Velasco at an apartment in Fresno. Both were arrested without incident. After interviews, Ramirez was booked into Fresno County Jail on homicide charges, and Velasco was charged as an accessory after the fact.
