On September 16, 2023, Deputy Ryan Clinkunbroomer, a 30-year-old officer with the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department, was fatally shot in Palmdale, California. The incident occurred near the intersection of Sierra Highway and Avenue Q, where Deputy Clinkunbroomer was discovered unconscious in his patrol vehicle by a passerby. He was immediately transported to Antelope Valley Medical Center, where he succumbed to his injuries.
