On the evening of September 16, 2023, 57-year-old Hector Ascencio Sr. was tragically murdered at his residence in the 2500 block of Glenwood Place in South Gate, California. After returning home with his grandchildren, Ascencio heard a knock at the door, which he believed to be his son. Upon answering, he was immediately shot in the head by an unknown assailant, collapsing in front of his 9-year-old granddaughter, who witnessed the horrific event.
