On the evening of November 30, 2023, 15-year-old Daniel Julian Mejia was tragically shot and killed in South Gate, California. The incident occurred around 8:40 p.m. on San Jose Avenue, just a block away from his home. Daniel was walking with another individual when an unknown assailant approached them and inquired about their gang affiliation by asking, "Where are you from?"
