On the night of May 21, 2023, at approximately 10:53 p.m., 29-year-old Javier Hernandez was fatally shot while driving in Gardena, California. Hernandez was traveling northbound on Chadron Avenue in a white Toyota Corolla when he passed a group of four to five individuals standing on the west side of the 14800 block. Without provocation, members of this group opened fire, striking Hernandez multiple times in the upper body.
Despite his injuries, Hernandez attempted to flee the scene but lost control of his vehicle, crashing into multiple parked cars near the 14700 block of Chadron Avenue. Emergency responders arrived promptly and transported him to a nearby hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
As of now, the suspects involved in the shooting remain unidentified and at large. Authorities have not released detailed descriptions of the individuals or any potential motives behind the attack. The Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department continues to investigate the case, urging anyone with information to come forward to assist in apprehending those responsible for Hernandez's death.
