On April 7, 2023, at approximately 10:20 p.m., 20-year-old San Diego resident Carlos Arvizu was fatally shot in front of a residence in the 100 block of East Park Avenue in San Ysidro. Responding officers found Arvizu suffering from a gunshot wound to his upper body; he was transported to a hospital where he was pronounced dead at 11:06 p.m.
