On the night of June 5, 2023, Bryan Police Department officers responded to reports of gunfire in the 3300 block of South College Avenue, near Fairway Drive. Upon arrival, they discovered 22-year-old Courtaney Jermaine O’Bryant of College Station suffering from life-threatening injuries. O’Bryant was immediately transported to a local hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.
The investigation into O’Bryant’s death revealed that three individuals attempted to conceal evidence related to the crime. In July 2024, these individuals were indicted on charges of tampering with evidence. They were accused of hiding O’Bryant’s cellphone and the handgun used in his murder.
As of December 2024, the Bryan Police Department has not publicly disclosed information regarding the arrest of a primary suspect directly responsible for O’Bryant’s death. The case remains under active investigation, and authorities continue to seek information from the public to aid in solving the homicide.
