On March 23, 2023, at approximately 10 p.m., Denton police responded to a shooting at an apartment complex in the 1300 block of Dallas Drive. Upon arrival, officers discovered two individuals, 29-year-old BreeAnna Christine Dunn and 43-year-old Ronald Calvert Jr., deceased inside a vehicle, both having suffered fatal gunshot wounds.
Witnesses reported observing two suspects fleeing the scene immediately after the shooting.
Through investigation, detectives identified 29-year-old Silvester Williams as a suspect, noting that he had a prior acquaintance with Calvert, indicating the crime was not random. Williams was arrested on April 3, 2023, in Lewisville, Texas, and charged with capital murder for causing the deaths of two individuals during the same criminal act.
Further investigative efforts, including interviews and analysis of physical evidence, led to the identification of a second suspect, 29-year-old Benjamin Paul Teal. Teal was apprehended on April 7, 2023, in Wichita Falls, Texas, and similarly charged with capital murder.
In October 2024, Teal was convicted of capital murder and sentenced to life imprisonment without the possibility of parole for his role in the deaths of Dunn and Calvert. The trial for Williams is scheduled to commence in the following year.
BreeAnna Dunn was remembered fondly by her family and friends for her kindness and love of animals. She is survived by her sisters, mother, stepfather, father, and several cousins and friends. Her funeral services were held on April 4, 2023, in Joshua, Texas, followed by burial at Burleson Memorial Cemetery.
