On May 13, 2004, 57-year-old Kay Kilbourn Byron Pettigrew, a white female from Denton, Texas, was tragically shot and killed by her estranged husband, 60-year-old Samuel E. Pettigrew. The incident occurred during a period of separation between the couple. Following the shooting, Samuel Pettigrew took his own life, resulting in a murder-suicide.
