In the city of Bridgeport, Connecticut, on October 11, 2021, the life of 16-year-old Nigel Powell was tragically cut short. What was initially reported as a self-inflicted gunshot wound would soon be revealed as a devastating accident among friends. Powell, a Black male, was inside a residence on Valley Avenue with three other juveniles when he sustained a fatal gunshot wound to the head. He was rushed to St. Vincent's Medical Center, where he ultimately succumbed to his injuries.
