On the evening of January 5, 2018, 35-year-old Jose Herrera-Cabral was shot and killed outside the New Welcome Inn bar located at 3759 Chestnut Place in Denver's Five Points neighborhood. The shooting, which occurred at approximately 7:57 p.m., also claimed the life of another man, 43-year-old Guillermo Ornelas. Both men sustained multiple gunshot wounds, according to the Denver Office of the Medical Examiner.
