On August 26, 2022, Kayjuan Taylor was tragically murdered in broad daylight near her home in Highland Park, Michigan. The incident was captured on home security cameras, which showed a man jumping out of a blue SUV and opening fire on Taylor as she walked down Rhode Island Avenue. Despite her desperate attempts to escape, the gunman pursued her into a backyard, continuing to shoot until she was fatally wounded.
