On the evening of December 5, 2019, Dewitt Dupree, a 27-year-old Black male, was found suffering from gunshot wounds in the 4800 block of East 19th Street on the east side of Indianapolis. Emergency services were called to the scene, and paramedics rushed him to a nearby hospital, but he ultimately succumbed to his injuries. The incident was one of many criminal homicides investigated by the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department that year.
