In the early morning hours of March 14, 2014, the life of 24-year-old Simone Bush, a Black/African American female, was tragically cut short in the Michigan City, Indiana home she shared with her grandparents. An argument with her boyfriend, Brian Taylor, escalated to a fatal conclusion when a gun was discharged, striking Bush in the neck. Following the sound of a struggle from Bush's bedroom, she was found deceased. Taylor fled the residence immediately after the shooting.
