In the early evening hours of Saturday, May 14, 2022, a burst of gunfire shattered the relative calm outside the Mid-Town Bar and Grill in the Jeff-Vander-Lou neighborhood of north St. Louis. When the chaos subsided, 39-year-old Melissa Moore, a female, was found suffering from a fatal gunshot wound. Police and emergency services were dispatched to the scene on North Vandeventer Avenue shortly after 6 p.m., where they pronounced Moore dead.
