In the spring of 1995, a 53-year-old man named Robert James Allen was last seen in Grand Rapids, Michigan. It was on May 1st of that year that Allen, a white male with brown hair and blue eyes, seemingly vanished. At the time of his disappearance, he stood approximately 5'9" tall and weighed around 150 pounds. Robert was known to wear prescription glasses and had a distinctive thick moustache. He also had a burn scar on his left foot and two tattoos: one on his upper right arm that said "BOB," and another of a naked woman with a flag on her head on his left forearm. The circumstances surrounding his disappearance are not widely known, leaving his loved ones with unanswered questions. The case of Robert Allen took a dark turn when it became entangled with the criminal activities of a man named Marvin Gabrion. Shortly after Allen's disappearance, Gabrion began using his identity. He opened a post office box in Sherman, New York, under Allen's name and had his benefit checks redirected there. Gabrion even used one of Allen's checks to pay for rent in early 1996. This identity theft raised red flags for investigators, who soon discovered the real Robert Allen was missing. The FBI became involved in the investigation, and authorities began to suspect that Allen had been murdered by Gabrion. Despite the grim outlook, the case remains officially unsolved. Marvin Gabrion was eventually arrested in October 1997 for cashing Robert Allen's social security checks. Though he was a prime suspect in Allen's disappearance and the murder of at least one other individual, a young woman named Rachel Timmerman, Allen's body has never been found. Gabrion was convicted and sentenced to death for Timmerman's murder. While authorities believe Gabrion is responsible for Allen's disappearance, without a body or a confession, the case remains open. The disappearance of Robert Allen is a tragic story of a vulnerable individual whose identity was stolen by a predator, leaving behind a legacy of unanswered questions and a family still searching for closure.
