On May 26, 1991, Gordon Thomas Page, Jr., a 28-year-old man, vanished from a group home in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Diagnosed with high-functioning autism, Gordon had been placed in the Cascade Foster Care Home, a facility specializing in autism treatment, in March of that year. His family, who resided in Florida, had visited him just days before his disappearance. His father recalled that Gordon seemed anxious for him to stay and even attempted to get into his van as he was leaving on May 21st. Four days later, during a routine midnight check, staff at the facility discovered that Gordon was missing from his room, having apparently escaped through a window. He left without any identification or money. In the immediate aftermath of Gordon's disappearance, there were potential sightings of him. A firefighter reported seeing a man matching Gordon's description hitchhiking along Interstate 96 shortly after he went missing. This led to speculation that he might have been trying to travel to his family in Florida. A significant, though unconfirmed, clue emerged about six weeks later when a portion of a baseball card collection was found under an overpass on I-96, near ramps leading to both Detroit and Chicago. What made this discovery particularly poignant was that three cards, featuring his favorite players—Robin Yount, Paul Molitor, and Eddie Murray—had been separated from the rest. Gordon was an avid collector of baseball cards and was known for his remarkable ability to memorize player statistics. Over the years, numerous tips and possible sightings have been reported across the United States and Canada, but none have led to Gordon. His family, particularly his father, dedicated immense effort and resources to the search, traveling thousands of miles and spending a significant amount of money in the hope of finding him. Despite the passage of time, the Kent County Sheriff's Department has kept the case open. Gordon is described as being 6'3" tall with a slender build, red or auburn hair, and blue eyes. He has several identifying marks, including a tan birthmark on his lower left torso and various scars. The disappearance of Gordon Page, Jr. is a story of a vulnerable individual who vanished without a trace, leaving his loved ones with unanswered questions and an enduring sense of loss. The case remains an active missing person investigation.
