On the morning of November 27, 1998, 61-year-old Bob Sabaratnam was a passenger in a vehicle involved in a two-car collision near mile marker 46 on Saddle Road in Waikiki, Hawaii County. Following the accident, witnesses reported seeing Sabaratnam exit the vehicle and walk away from the scene accompanied by his dog. This was the last time he was ever seen. Sabaratnam, a resident of Leilani Estates in Puna, was not officially reported as a missing person until December 1, 1998.
