On May 10, 1967, thirteen-year-old Joel Hoag, his eleven-year-old brother William "Billy" Hoag, and their fourteen-year-old friend, Edwin "Craig" Dowell, vanished in their hometown of Hannibal, Missouri. The three boys were last seen between 4:20 and 5:00 p.m. on the south side of town, carrying shovels and a flashlight.
