Mary, who was known to wear a hearing aid and distinctive long, floor-length dresses, and her grandson were last seen in the community, but the circumstances of their disappearance point to a frightening encounter that has left their family searching for answers for decades. The case remains an active investigation, a painful and unresolved chapter for their loved ones and community. The night they went missing was reportedly filled with terror. Accounts from that time suggest that two unidentified people broke into the Goodfellow residence, loudly accusing Kevin of stealing. In a desperate act, the teenager allegedly ran to a neighbor's house across the street, shouting for help, but tragically, no one opened the door. From that moment, both Kevin Charles and his grandmother, Mary Nancy Goodfellow, were never seen or heard from again. In the days and years that followed, extensive searches were conducted, but they yielded no clues as to their whereabouts, leaving a void of information and the start of a long, agonizing mystery. Over the years, the case grew cold, though it was never forgotten by the family or law enforcement. The RCMP officially reopened the investigation in 2006. A significant tip emerged that year, pointing investigators to an old well site near Leoville, about 25 kilometers from Chitek Lake, as a place of interest. Tragically, before the site could be thoroughly investigated, one of the involved officers, Cst. Marc Bourdages, was killed in the line of duty, and the lead faded. The case remained open, and the family’s hope for resolution persisted. In 2022, fueled by the enduring memories and the unresolved tip, volunteer searchers, including a cousin of Kevin Charles, located the well. An excavation was eventually conducted, but the search found no evidence of human remains, officially ruling out the site but leaving the ultimate question unanswered. The disappearance of Mary Nancy Goodfellow and Kevin James Charles is a haunting case that has spanned over three decades, marked by a disturbing initial confrontation and a series of frustrating dead ends. Despite extensive searches and the passage of time, their fate remains unknown, and the investigation continues.
