When he failed to return home, his concerned family reported him missing the following day, on July 21, 2007. The initial investigation into Asim's disappearance revealed that his stated plans to study may not have been his only activity that day. Police determined that he had met with a friend at Brentwood Mall later in the evening. The two of them reportedly shared ice cream at a McDonald's before parting ways at the Production Skytrain Station, not far from where he was last seen. There was no indication that Asim ever made it to the university library as he had intended. At the time of his disappearance, Asim was described as being 6'2" tall and weighing 141 pounds, with a slender build. He had black, brush-cut hair, dark eyes, a beard, and crooked teeth. He was last seen wearing a grey cotton hooded sweater with "Russell Athletic" written in red and blue, grey cotton sweatpants, grey shorts, a black baseball cap, and size 10 runners, possibly of the Adidas brand. It was also noted that he had a history of depression. For years, the search for Asim Chaudhry has continued, yet time has yielded no significant breakthroughs. The Burnaby RCMP has repeatedly appealed to the public for any information that might shed light on what happened to the young student. Despite the passage of well over a decade, his family and friends are left without answers, holding on to the hope that someone, somewhere, holds a piece of information that could finally explain his sudden and perplexing disappearance.
