In June of 2002, a 40-year-old Indigenous man named Edward Lawrence Decoyne was last seen by his family in Edmonton, Alberta. At the time of his disappearance, he was described as being 5 feet 11 inches tall and weighing approximately 154 pounds, with brown hair and brown eyes. His life and the circumstances leading up to the last time his loved ones saw him are not widely publicized, but the silence that followed his last known appearance has left a void for his family. He was known to also frequent the areas of Red Deer and Innisfail, expanding the geographical scope of where he might have been recognized. Distinctive physical characteristics might have made Edward more easily identifiable. He was missing his right ring finger and had noticeable scars on the back of both of his hands, as well as on his left forearm. Additionally, he had several tattoos, including a banner or scroll and a skull on his left forearm, bones and a skull on his right forearm, a heart on his left hand and right arm, and a dagger on his left hand. These permanent marks tell a part of his story, yet the chapters that followed his disappearance remain unwritten. The passage of time has not diminished the hope of finding answers in Edward's case. His family's last contact with him in Edmonton marked the beginning of a long and painful period of uncertainty. Despite the years that have gone by, the fundamental questions of his whereabouts and the reasons for his disappearance persist.
