On a summer day in 1979, a 17-year-old male named Terrence Donald Henderson was with friends at Lac Ste. Anne near Ross Haven, Alberta. The date was June 23rd, and the group was socializing by the lake. At some point, Terrence decided to go out on the water alone in a canoe. This would be the last time he was seen by his companions. When he did not come back after a while, his friends grew concerned and reported him missing. Terrence was a young man with a freckled complexion and brown hair. At the time of his disappearance, he stood about 5 feet 10 inches tall and weighed around 130 pounds. He was last seen wearing a red and blue plaid jacket, blue denim jeans, and brown shoes. An extensive search was launched in the hours and days that followed his disappearance, with search and rescue teams dedicating over 40 hours to scouring the area in hopes of finding the missing teenager. Despite the intensive search efforts, Terrence was never located. The primary theory in his disappearance is that he is presumed to have drowned in the lake. His case remains an open missing person investigation with the Parkland RCMP. The disappearance of Terrence Donald Henderson is a long-standing mystery in Alberta, a heart-wrenching story of a young man who went out on a canoe trip on a summer day and vanished, leaving his family and friends with unanswered questions that have endured for decades.
