In the spring of 2020, concern began to grow for the well-being of Travis Raymond Hollar, a 38-year-old man from Edmonton, Alberta. The last time his family had any contact with him was in April of that year, and he was officially last seen in the city on April 29, 2020. Hollar was known to live a transient lifestyle and often spent time in the inner city and northeast areas of Edmonton. His family reported him missing on May 23, 2020, alarmed by the unusual length of his silence. This was highly out of character for Travis, who, despite his lifestyle, remained extremely close to his family and relied on them for support with daily matters. Travis's family described him as a person who navigated life with a unique vulnerability. A brain injury sustained in his past resulted in diminished cognitive abilities, giving him an emotional intelligence more akin to that of a much younger person. This reliance on his family for guidance and support made his sudden disappearance all the more frightening for them. In a heartfelt plea for information, his family expressed their profound sense of loss and the heartache of not knowing his whereabouts or if he is safe. At the time he went missing, Travis was described as being five feet seven inches tall and weighing around 160 pounds, with blue eyes and shaved brown hair. He has distinctive tattoos: his first name, 'Travis', is tattooed on his right forearm, and his left forearm bears a tattoo of a marijuana leaf with the word 'Loyal' inscribed inside. A year after he was last seen, the Edmonton Police Service's missing persons unit renewed calls for public assistance, stating that they had exhausted all investigative avenues and were hoping for new information. Both police and his family remain deeply concerned for his welfare. The case of Travis Hollar is a somber reminder of the many individuals who disappear, leaving behind families caught in the anguish of uncertainty. His disappearance, so contrary to his nature of staying connected with his loved ones, has left a void filled with unanswered questions. The investigation remains open, with the hope that someone, somewhere, holds the key to bringing an end to his family's prolonged distress.
