In the winter of 2003, a young Inuk mother named Pamela Jayne Holopainen, 22 years old, vanished from Timmins, Ontario. On the evening of Saturday, December 13th, she and her common-law spouse, Chris Manchester, attended a house party, having arranged for a babysitter for their two young sons. In the early morning hours of Sunday, December 14th, 2003, a public argument was witnessed between Holopainen and Manchester at the party. Following this disagreement, Holopainen was seen leaving the party, with Manchester following closely behind. This would be the last time she was ever seen. It was not until December 31st, weeks after she was last seen, that she was officially reported as a missing person. As days turned into weeks with no word from Pamela, her family grew increasingly concerned, especially after she uncharacteristically missed Christmas with her children. The initial response from the Timmins Police suggested that she might have gone to Hamilton. However, as the investigation progressed, more unsettling details emerged. During a search of her apartment, investigators discovered evidence of blood on the walls, floor, and door. In the fall of the following year, a comprehensive search of the Deloro Landfill Site was conducted using excavators and cadaver dogs, but it did not yield any results. Throughout the first year of the investigation, police conducted over 100 interviews with witnesses in an attempt to piece together the events leading to her disappearance. Years have passed since Pamela Holopainen's disappearance, yet her case remains unsolved. Investigators and her family believe she is deceased and suspect that she was a victim of foul play. The Ontario Provincial Police is offering a $50,000 reward for any information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for her disappearance. The case is still under investigation by the South Porcupine division of the Ontario Provincial Police, and the Timmins Police continue to include her in their list of outstanding missing persons.
