In the late summer of 2020, a sense of unease began to settle over the family of Geoffrey Russell Irwin. The 35-year-old man was last seen leaving his family's home in Colwood, British Columbia, on September 27, 2020. Later that day, he was captured on surveillance footage at a Royal Bank of Canada on Jacklin Road. At the time of his disappearance, Geoffrey was described as a Caucasian male with blond hair and blue eyes, standing at 6 feet tall and weighing approximately 200 pounds. When last seen, he was wearing a grey zip-up hoodie over a black t-shirt, black shorts, and was carrying a backpack. It was not initially out of the ordinary for him to be out of touch with his family, but as time stretched on, concern grew into a formal missing person report filed with the West Shore RCMP at the end of October. The investigation into Geoffrey's whereabouts revealed that he was known to travel between the West Shore of Vancouver Island and the Lower Mainland. This information led police to believe he may have traveled to West Vancouver sometime between September 27th and 29th. This theory gained significant traction when, on November 25, 2020, his black 2017 Ford Escape was discovered abandoned near the Park Royal Mall in West Vancouver. The discovery of his vehicle nearly two months after his last confirmed sighting was a troubling development, offering a clue to his possible movements but no answers as to his well-being. In response, investigators appealed to the public for any dashcam footage from the Park Royal Mall area or from BC Ferries sailings between Vancouver Island and the mainland during the days following his disappearance. As the years have passed, the investigation into Geoffrey Irwin's disappearance has remained open and active, handled by the West Shore RCMP's Serious Crime Unit. Despite following up on numerous leads, no further confirmed sightings of him have been reported since the day he vanished. The police have stated that they do not suspect foul play in his disappearance but remain concerned for his welfare. For his family and friends, the lack of answers has been a source of ongoing distress. The case is an overview of a man who left his home one day and was never seen again, with his last known movements traced to a bank and his car later found in another city, leaving a trail of unanswered questions.
