In the summer of 2014, in the small community of Kitimat, British Columbia, 67-year-old Noel Yassinsky was living his life as usual. He was last seen on July 25, 2014, though the full story of his disappearance would not begin to unfold for several more weeks. Concern for his well-being grew when a friend, having not seen him for some time, visited his residence and noticed several things that were out of character. The most significant of these was the absence of his vehicle, a blue 2009 Ford Fusion. This unsettling discovery prompted the friend to report him missing on August 10, 2014, setting in motion an investigation that has now spanned a decade.

The initial attempts by the Kitimat RCMP to contact and locate Noel were unsuccessful, deepening the mystery surrounding his sudden absence. A significant development in the case came over a month later, on September 17, 2014, when his Ford Fusion was found abandoned. The vehicle was located a considerable distance from his home, discovered near the Purden Campground, which is situated east of Prince George. This discovery shifted the focus of the search to this new area. Authorities, including RCMP Police Dog Services and Search and Rescue teams, conducted a thorough two-day search of the vicinity surrounding the abandoned car. Despite their extensive efforts, the search yielded no clues as to Noel's whereabouts, and the trail went cold.

As years have passed, the disappearance of Noel Yassinsky has remained an open and unresolved case. His family continues to hope for answers and a sense of closure. The circumstances of his disappearance are considered to be out of character, leaving his loved ones with many unanswered questions. The Royal Canadian Mounted Police continue to appeal to the public for any information, no matter how insignificant it may seem, that could shed light on what happened to Noel. The case remains a poignant reminder of a community member who vanished, and the enduring search for truth that his family maintains. The discovery of his abandoned car hundreds of kilometers from his home is a central and perplexing element of the investigation, a silent testament to the mystery that began that summer.
