On September 22, 2018, the 21-year-old man from Skownan First Nation was last seen in Ebb and Flow First Nation. That afternoon, he was seen gassing up his vehicle at a local store. At the time of his disappearance, Dwayne was described as being six feet two inches tall and weighing approximately 200 pounds. He has a small cross tattooed on his left hand and the words "can't stop" tattooed on his right arm. His loved ones describe him as a kind and gentle man who had recently finished a seasonal job and was looking for new employment. His sister remembers him as a "kid at heart" and a wonderful uncle. The days following Dwayne's last sighting were filled with growing concern. A few days after he was last seen, his vehicle was discovered abandoned at the end of a dead-end road north of Ste. Rose du Lac. This discovery, about 40 kilometers west of where he was last seen, marked a troubling development in the case. The vehicle's location, on a rural road off Provincial Road 276, prompted immediate and extensive searches of the surrounding area. Over the years, these search efforts have involved the RCMP, including their search and rescue and police dog services, the Civilian Air Search and Rescue Association (CASARA), the Office of the Fire Commissioner, and numerous volunteers from the community. Despite these exhaustive efforts on the ground and in the air, no trace of Dwayne has been found. The years since Dwayne's disappearance have been a difficult journey for his family, who continue to advocate for answers and keep his memory alive. They have organized marches and searches, and have spoken publicly about their grief and the desperate need for closure. The investigation into his disappearance is still considered active, with police having interviewed over 80 people in connection to the case. The family believes that someone out there has information that could be the key to understanding what happened to him. They urge anyone with even the smallest detail to come forward as they navigate the profound pain of not knowing, holding onto the hope that they will one day be able to bring Dwayne home. The case remains an open wound for his community, a story without an ending, and a testament to a family's enduring love and their relentless quest for answers.
