On the morning of January 7, 1997, a 57-year-old man named Darcy Puddicomb left his home in the Mountain area of Hamilton, Ontario, with the intention of walking to work, a routine start to what should have been an ordinary day. He was last seen at approximately 7:15 a.m. At the time of his disappearance, he was described as a white male, standing 5 feet 6 inches tall and weighing around 150 pounds. He had short, light brown and grey hair with a receding hairline, and brown eyes. His attire on that chilly January morning consisted of blue denim jeans, a beige quilted-style cotton and nylon jacket, and black leather boots with laces. He was also carrying a distinctive yellow canvas shoulder bag. A short time after leaving his residence, at 7:35 a.m., Darcy was seen at a 7-Eleven store located at Main Street East and Ashford Street in Hamilton. This would be the last confirmed sighting of him. Despite his morning routine and stated intention, he never arrived at his place of employment. His failure to show up for work was out of character and immediately raised concern among those who knew him. In the days and weeks that followed, the lack of any communication or sign of his whereabouts deepened the mystery surrounding his sudden disappearance. The Hamilton Police Service opened an investigation into Darcy Puddicomb's disappearance, a case that has now spanned decades without resolution. Over the years, very little public information has emerged, leaving his family and community with unanswered questions. The circumstances of his disappearance remain unclear, with no significant leads to explain why a man on his way to work would vanish without a trace. The case of Darcy Puddicomb is a somber reminder of the enduring pain and uncertainty that surrounds unsolved missing persons cases, a poignant narrative of a man who started a day like any other, only to become a subject of a lasting and unresolved mystery.
