The discovery of the abandoned vehicle triggered an extensive search effort by the Ontario Provincial Police. Investigators utilized helicopters, all-terrain vehicles, canine units, and canoes to scour the heavily wooded areas and waterways near where the van was found, but the searches yielded no trace of Lorraine. As the investigation progressed, police began to suspect foul play was involved in her disappearance. A year after she went missing, the case was reclassified and acknowledged as a criminal investigation, with police stating they believe someone holds the key to solving the mystery. Despite these efforts and a subsequent search of her home, no significant breakthroughs have been made public. The years have passed, and the case of Lorraine Roach has grown cold, though it remains an active investigation. For her family, the lack of answers is a source of unending pain and heartbreak. In an effort to generate new leads, the OPP has offered a $50,000 reward for information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for her disappearance. Although she was legally declared deceased in 2023, her family continues to hold out hope for justice and closure.
