On December 26, 2011, Perry Jonathan Sebastian, a 28-year-old man from the Hagwilget First Nations reserve, was last seen in the Southbank area near Burns Lake, British Columbia. Known to his friends and family as "P.J.", he had been visiting a friend in the Nee Tahi Buhn community for Christmas. Perry was a First Nations male with dark brown hair and brown eyes, standing between five feet eleven inches and six feet two inches tall, with a slender to medium build. The last time anyone saw him, he was reportedly planning to walk to the Francois Lake ferry, with the intention of staying overnight in Burns Lake before hitchhiking the rest of the way home to Hagwilget Village. The days following December 26th turned into an agonizing wait for Perry's family as there was no word from him. This silence was deeply concerning because it was completely out of character for Perry, who was known for consistently keeping in touch with his family, either by text message or through updates on his Facebook page. Although he had his cellphone with him, all attempts to reach him were unsuccessful as the phone appeared to be turned off. His social media accounts, once a regular point of connection, fell silent. Descriptions of his last known attire vary slightly, but generally recall him wearing a black hoodie, navy blue track pants, and black shoes, with some accounts mentioning a camouflage toque or a black vest. As weeks stretched into months and now years, the investigation into Perry Sebastian's disappearance has remained open and active, yet his whereabouts are still unknown. The Burns Lake RCMP continue to seek any information that might lead to a breakthrough. For his family and community, the lack of answers is a persistent source of pain. They remember a man who, despite any personal struggles, was a cherished part of their lives. A family member has expressed fears that he may have been lured to the Southside and met with foul play.
