In the vast and often unforgiving landscape of Northern Ontario, the story of a missing man and his aircraft has endured for decades, leaving a void of unanswered questions for his loved ones. On November 13, 1981, a 36-year-old male named Pooran Eric Shivcharan vanished while piloting an aircraft. He was last seen in the area of Fort Hope, Ontario, piloting his plane westbound in the general direction of Geraldton. At the time of his disappearance, Mr. Shivcharan was described as being of East Indian descent, with a slender build, a dark complexion, and wavy black hair. He stood approximately six feet tall and weighed around 150 pounds. His original flight plan was intended to take him to Thunder Bay, but it is believed he may have altered his course, possibly heading towards Geraldton or Raith instead. The clothing he was wearing on that fateful day included a blue parka-style jacket, brown double-knit slacks, a light-colored shirt, and blue and white running shoes. He was also wearing heavy socks and underwear to brace against the November chill of the region. The disappearance prompted immediate and extensive search efforts, as authorities and likely volunteers scoured the rugged terrain below his last known flight path. The hope was to find any sign of Mr. Shivcharan or the wreckage of his aircraft, a clue that might lead to his whereabouts and explain what had happened in the skies over Northern Ontario. Despite the exhaustive searches, neither Pooran Shivcharan nor his plane were ever located. The dense wilderness seemed to have swallowed the aircraft whole, leaving behind no debris, no emergency signals, and no trace of the pilot. The case remains open with the Ontario Provincial Police, a cold case file filled with the initial reports and the details of a search that yielded no answers. The overview of this case is one of profound and sudden mystery; a man with a known destination simply vanished from the sky. Without a crash site or any further evidence, the circumstances of what occurred on November 13, 1981, are unknown, leaving only speculation and the enduring pain of loss for those who knew him.
