On May 15, 2016, 30-year-old Amber Morgan Wilson was last seen in downtown Edmonton, Alberta. Her father had dropped her off at her residence, a transitional housing facility located at 100th Avenue and 102nd Street, at approximately 9:30 p.m. Amber, who was described as being five-foot-one and weighing 105 pounds with brown, shoulder-length hair and green eyes, was last seen wearing a blue pullover sweater, a green t-shirt, and grey pajama pants. She had told her father she would call him in an hour, but that call never came. Surveillance footage from her residence later revealed that she never entered the building after being dropped off.

Amber's family grew deeply concerned as it was highly uncharacteristic of her to not be in contact. Despite living what was described as a high-risk lifestyle and struggling with substance use, Amber maintained daily communication with her family. She was a person with unique vulnerabilities, living with both epilepsy, for which she required daily medication that was left behind, and Asperger's syndrome. Her mother noted that due to her Asperger's, Amber was not one to wander off by herself and tended to stay within her familiar surroundings. Friends and family described her as a trusting individual who could be easily taken advantage of by others. At the time of her disappearance, she had expressed a desire to return to rehab to address her addiction.

A year after she was last seen, the Edmonton Police Service announced that Amber's disappearance was considered suspicious, and the homicide section had been involved in the investigation from the beginning. Despite public pleas from her family and the police for any information, no significant leads have emerged. Her prescriptions have not been filled, and there have been no hospital records matching her description that would indicate she had suffered a seizure. The case of Amber Morgan Wilson remains an unresolved missing person file. The circumstances surrounding her disappearance, particularly the fact that she never made it inside her residence and her consistent contact with family abruptly ending, continue to be a source of deep concern for her loved ones and investigators.
