On July 20, 2020, 61-year-old Shirley Baumann, an experienced and avid hiker, embarked on a solo camping trip in the scenic but rugged terrain of North Bend, Washington. A familiar face in her community, known for her kindness and love of the outdoors, she was dropped off by her son at the Quartz Creek Trailhead.
