On August 28, 2025, deputies responded to a home on Brown Extension Road in Darrow, Louisiana, after reports of gunfire. Inside the residence they found 18-year-old TyJon Marquis Comery with fatal gunshot wounds; multiple shell casings were recovered at the scene. Investigators treated the death as a homicide and worked to reconstruct what happened.

Within weeks the focus turned to a close acquaintance of Comery. Seventeen-year-old Peyton Jackson of Darrow was arrested and charged with second-degree murder, obstruction of justice, and illegal use of weapons. Authorities later arrested Peyton’s 31-year-old brother, Charles Ray Jackson Jr., on September 23 and charged him with accessory after the fact to second-degree murder, alleging he assisted after the shooting.
