A Fourth of July celebration in Dequincy, Louisiana, ended in a deadly exchange of gunfire that left 26-year-old Cortez D. Boston dead. Deputies were called to the 1100 block of Allen Street at about 10 p.m. after a 911 call; Boston was found at the scene with an apparent gunshot wound. Investigators say the incident involved an altercation that escalated into shots being fired, and that another person, 20-year-old Clint L. Mott Jr. of Sulphur, was also wounded and taken to a local hospital before deputies arrived.

Detectives determined both Boston and Mott had been involved in the shooting. An arrest warrant was obtained for Mott; he turned himself in on the afternoon of July 7 and was booked into the Calcasieu Correctional Center on charges of second-degree murder and illegal use of a weapon during a crime of violence, with bond set at $900,000. The investigation is ongoing and officials say more arrests could be possible.

If anyone witnessed the shooting or was at the gathering on Allen Street that night, what did you see or hear?
