On the morning of Wednesday, February 25, 2026, deputies responded to a reported shooting at a residence on the east side of Marion, Indiana. Thomas W. Gray, 74, was found inside the home at 135 N 700 E and was pronounced dead at 6:16 a.m. An autopsy later found a single gunshot wound to the chest.

A 67-year-old woman identified as Sandra Gray, the victim’s wife, reportedly called 911 from a nearby Love’s Truck Stop and told authorities she had shot her husband. She was taken into custody without incident and transported to the Grant County Sheriff’s Office for questioning. The Grant County Sheriff’s Office, assisted by the Indiana State Police and the Marion Police Department, is treating the death as a homicide. Initial filings mention a murder charge; one report indicates the Grant County Prosecutor’s Office also charged her with voluntary manslaughter.

No motive has been released and the investigation remains active. If anyone has information about the shooting, contact the Grant County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigations Division.
