On June 15, 2021, a predawn shooting at the Mueller Co. plant in Albertville, Alabama, killed two employees, including 29-year-old Michael Lee Dobbins of Boaz. Dobbins had worked at the factory for almost a year and was reportedly saving to buy a home and a car. The attack happened shortly before 2:30 a.m. and also wounded two other coworkers, Casey Sampson and Isaac Byrd.

Authorities identified the shooter as 34-year-old coworker Andreas Deon Horton. Police described the attack as completely unprovoked. David Lee Horton was the other employee killed; there was no known familial relationship between him and Andreas Horton. Andreas Horton was later found dead of an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound in a Jeep in Guntersville, about 15 miles from the plant, and multiple firearms were recovered from the vehicle. The motive remained unclear.
