Lisa Leona Maas was 22 and five months pregnant when she vanished after leaving a house party in Woodford, Ontario, in the early morning of July 17, 1988. She had been staying at her parents’ home after ending a relationship and went out with friends the night before. A male acquaintance says he saw her get into her 1976 Plymouth Fury and drive off at about 4:30 a.m.
Two days later her car was found abandoned and stuck in the mud on a remote bush lane near Annan, Ontario. The doors and trunk were open and contents were scattered, with evidence someone had tried to free the vehicle. Weeks after that her driver’s licence was recovered on a different sideroad, lying on top of tall grass as if tossed from a moving vehicle.
Police have conducted repeated searches by air, land and water, examined gravel pits, wells and crevices, and say they suspect foul play by someone who knew her. Investigators have focused on a primary suspect after considering several people, but no charges have been laid. Does anyone who lived in the area at the time or knew Lisa have information that could help explain what happened that night?
