In the spring of 2017, the life of 19-year-old Derick Thomas, an African American male, was tragically cut short. On the evening of April 19th, in the suburban community of Bellefontaine Neighbors, just outside of St. Louis, Missouri, both Derick and another young man, 18-year-old Keith Sims, were found fatally wounded. Both victims had suffered from gunshots.
