On a Tuesday afternoon, September 8, 2020, in the Northeast district of Baltimore, Maryland, a burst of gunfire shattered the relative quiet of the 1800 block of East 28th Street. When the violence subsided, Troy Poindexter, a 41-year-old Black male, was found suffering from gunshot wounds. The incident was reported at approximately 3:02 p.m., and though emergency services were dispatched to the scene, the injuries Poindexter sustained proved to be fatal.
