In the summer of 2017, a mother's instinct to protect her children led to a tragic end on the streets of Baltimore. Charmaine Renee Wilson, a 37-year-old mother of eight, was fatally shot on June 12, 2017, in her West Baltimore neighborhood. Her death came shortly after she had contacted police to report that her son was being bullied and that his bicycle seat had been stolen. This act of looking out for her child, a simple call for help, is believed to have made her a target.
