Majarion Foust, a 19-year-old resident of West Covina, California, tragically lost his life on November 2, 2022. The incident occurred at the Walnut Ridge Apartments located on South Sentous Avenue. On that fateful night, West Covina Police responded to reports of gunfire at approximately 10:45 p.m. Upon arrival, they discovered Majarion Foust and his cousin, Maliki Foust Jr., both suffering from gunshot wounds.
While Maliki was pronounced dead at the scene, Majarion was transported to a nearby hospital where he later succumbed to his injuries.
The investigation into the double homicide revealed that the two cousins were ambushed while sitting in a carport parking lot of the apartment complex. Surveillance footage released by the police showed the suspect, identified as their 19-year-old cousin Michael Mariano Jr., approaching the carport moments before the shooting. The footage, however, did not capture the actual shooting. Authorities believe the attack was premeditated and not gang-related, suggesting a personal motive behind the crime.
Following the incident, Michael Mariano Jr. became the prime suspect in the case. He was described as armed and dangerous, with frequent visits to the San Fernando, Riverside, and Los Angeles County areas. The West Covina Police Department urged anyone with information to come forward, emphasizing the need for community assistance in apprehending Mariano. The case drew significant attention, with the police releasing multiple updates and seeking public help through various media channels.
In March 2023, Michael Mariano Jr. was arrested in Corona, California, bringing a crucial development to the case. The arrest marked a significant step towards justice for the Foust family, who had been grappling with the loss of two young lives. The legal proceedings against Mariano are expected to shed more light on the motive and circumstances surrounding the tragic event. As the case progresses through the judicial system, the community remains hopeful for a resolution that honors the memory of Majarion and Maliki Foust.
