Miguel Valenzuela, a 23-year-old resident of Fresno, California, tragically lost his life on July 1, 2017. The incident occurred around 2:50 PM when the Fresno County Sheriff’s Office received reports of shots being fired from a vehicle in the 2000 block of N. Cedar Avenue. Simultaneously, the Fresno Police Department was alerted to a shooting victim at the same location. Upon arrival, officers found Valenzuela suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.
Despite immediate medical attention and transportation to Community Regional Medical Center, he succumbed to his injuries.
The investigation revealed that Valenzuela was walking on the east side of Cedar Avenue when a pearl or crème-colored sedan stopped along the west curb. Three males, all wearing black bandanas, exited the vehicle and began shooting at him. Valenzuela managed to run into a nearby apartment, where he was later found by the police. The Fresno County Sheriff’s Office took over the investigation due to the location of the shooting.
Detectives gathered descriptions of two potential suspects. The first suspect was described as a Hispanic male in his early 20s, approximately 5’5” tall, weighing around 100 pounds, with brown eyes and black hair, and tattoos on his face and neck. The second suspect was also a Hispanic male, in his mid to late 20s, about 5’8” tall, weighing around 160 pounds, with brown eyes and black hair, and tattoos on his face. The suspects were believed to have fled the scene in a 1999 beige-colored Toyota Camry.
Despite the detailed descriptions and the ongoing investigation, no arrests have been made in connection with Valenzuela’s murder. The Fresno County Sheriff’s Office continues to seek information from the public to help identify and apprehend the suspects involved in this tragic incident.
