Miguel Lizarraga, a 27-year-old resident of Baldwin Park, California, was tragically shot and killed on February 6, 2017. The incident occurred around 9:46 p.m. in the 12900 block of Athol Street, close to his home. Lizarraga was walking with two acquaintances when a dark sedan approached them. Two men exited the vehicle and questioned Lizarraga about his gang affiliation. His companions fled in different directions, but Lizarraga was shot multiple times in the upper torso.
The assailants then returned to their car and drove away. Lizarraga was pronounced dead at the scene at 9:55 p.m.
The Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department Homicide Bureau is investigating the case for the Baldwin Park Police Department. The investigation revealed that the shooting was gang-related, but no arrests have been made so far. Authorities have urged anyone with information to come forward, offering anonymity through Crime Stoppers.
Despite the ongoing investigation, the case remains unsolved. The community and law enforcement continue to seek justice for Lizarraga, hoping that new leads will eventually surface to bring the perpetrators to justice.
