Matt Garcia, a promising young city councilman from Fairfield, California, was tragically killed on September 1, 2008, at the age of 22. Garcia, who had been elected to the Fairfield City Council at just 21, was known for his enthusiasm and dedication to his community. On the evening of his death, Garcia was visiting a friend in the Cordelia neighborhood of Fairfield when he was shot.
