Larry Elwood Lasater Jr., a 35-year-old police officer from Pittsburg, California, tragically lost his life on April 23, 2005. Officer Lasater was attempting to arrest two robbery suspects on the Delta De Anza Regional Trail when he was fatally shot. The suspects had just committed a robbery at a supermarket and a bank branch and were fleeing from the police. After crashing their vehicle in a residential area, they fled on foot onto the trail.
